For a large-scale European retail introduction, JLM Sourcing is managing the development of incense coils in three fragrances. A compact product with a complex brief: reliable burn time, recognisable colours, a safe metal holder, robust packaging and demonstrable product compliance.

The development
A simple idea only becomes a retail product when every detail works.
The request started with a clear consumer proposition: incense coils in lavender, citronella and geranium, complete with metal holder and a presentation ready for European retail. In practice, this requires far more than adding fragrance and colour to an existing coil.
The high temperatures needed to give the flat coil sufficient rigidity also affect pigments. Not every desired colour proved immediately feasible. At the same time, all three fragrance formulas had to be evaluated for burn time, stability and compliance. JLM connected the commercial brief with the technical reality and pushed the manufacturer for clear decisions, deadlines and complete samples.

Aligning lavender, citronella and geranium with technically feasible colours and a recognisable variant system.
Burn time and function
Following tests aimed at even burning and a target use time of approximately six hours per coil.

Compliance
Confirming and documenting REACH conformity for every combination of fragrance, colour and material.
Samples and packaging
Checking breakage, completeness, packaging copy and transport protection before the product can be released.

This project connects R&D, production, compliance, packaging and the external metal-holder manufacturer. JLM guards the full picture. When a colour is not feasible, a component is delayed or a sample arrives damaged, the impact on the complete retail execution is addressed immediately.
